As we all know, nail files are classified by what is called “Grain”. This number simply reflects the abrasion power of the file and indicates the number of “grains” per square centimeter present on the surface of the file. Generally speaking, the larger the Grit number, the softer the file. Conversely, the smaller the Grain number, the more abrasive the file.
To help you better choose the grain of your nail file, the nail expert Maryton will explain everything to you. Read on!
Grit 80: Extra strong abrasion
Ideal for depositing the largest (or shortening) of the gel or resin. Never use on natural nails.
Grit 100: Strong abrasion
Ideal for applying gel or shaping resin. Never use on natural nails.
180 grit: Medium abrasion
Ideal for finishing shaping and correcting the structure of your gel nails.
Grit 240: Low abrasion
Ideal for preparing the nail plate.
Grain 320: Very low abrasion
To roughen surfaces, soften the angles and edges of your diamond filing or even erase the largest scratches made during filing.
600 grit: Extra low abrasion
To gently roughen and remove the smallest imperfections.
